Faith Formation
Sacramental Preparation Policy
The liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Sacraments. It is our joy to accompany your child on this sacramental journey. The Archdiocese of Seattle requires a full year of faith formation prior to the immediate year of preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, along with regular attendance at Sunday Mass. Formal faith formation includes participation in a parish ministry offering, or Catholic school education.

Preparation for confirmation leads the young Christian toward a more intimate relationship with Christ and the Holy Spirit so they can fully live out their Christian life. The reception of the sacrament has real and profound effects on the person. Confirmation preparation is a two year process. Teens in their first year are in their proximate year (6th grade). The proximate year can be completed through Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (if enrolled in previous years), or through the Confirmation Ministry. The second year of confirmation is called the immediate year (7th grade), and can only be completed through our Confirmation Ministry. Teens will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation during the spring of their immediate year.
